Humans
In the reckoning of most worlds, humans are the youngest of the common races, late to arrive on the world scene and short-lived in comparison to dwarves, elves, and dragons. But in this one, Humans have been around for centuries-- perhaps not as long as beastkin or Dragons, but they walked among some of the oldest races in the realm. They have widely varying tastes, morals, and customs in the many different lands where they have settled. When they settle, though, they stay: they build cities to last for the ages, and great kingdoms that can persist for long centuries. An individual human might have a relatively short life span, but a human nation or culture preserves traditions with origins far beyond the reach of any single human’s memory.
They saw what the world was like before the Gates changed everything, before the lands of their world were shaped into living embodiments of the elements themselves. They knew what normal was before the earth shook, and continue to survive in its extreme biomes even now. Humans are the most adaptable and ambitious people among the common races, adjusting hasn't been easy for them though. They are often looked down on by others because they are “lesser”, but truly they are most impressive, as they survived what must have felt like an apocalypse when the gates were nailed down to the world. Their lifespans may be rather short in comparison to others, and their resistance mediocre, but they are often steadfast and resilient, determined, and stubborn. They won't go down without a fight, and they should never be underestimated.
Humans are a rare find though, because as hard as they strived to survive the changing of their world, its extremes proved far too great before the remaining mortals could move into the safer lands of Suna and Eren. Humans that are found though are often seen together, rather than scattered about as survival becomes far more difficult when alone. They choose to live in the more moderate areas of the world, like Eren, and Suna, but some have founded homes in Azmuth, the slave city of the fire region, to prove tot hte world that they could not simply be burned from this earth. Even rarer are humans in Nyve or Zul, the most extreme climates in the world, but don't tend to last very long there.
